Food & Health

The founding chefs of Euro-toques stated that good food is “central to our health, wealth and happiness”, and there is no doubt that the food we eat impacts on our health. We believe that, as chefs, we have a duty to serve wholesome food and to contribute to an appreciation and education of the public and future chefs of foods which do not impact negatively on our health.
There is little doubt that the level of chemical residues and artificial additives now present in our food impact on our health and that consumption of highly processed and ‘convenience’ foods is causing very serious health issues, amongst them obesity, heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

By using high quality freshly prepared ingredients Euro-toques chefs endeavour at all times to provide wholesome food:

  • Euro-toques chefs are not permitted to use pre-prepared/processed foods which contain artificial additives
  • Euro-toques chefs avoid the use of GM foods
  • Euro-toques chefs use to source food locally and in season, at the peak of its nutritional value
  • Euro-toques supports organic and biodynamic farming methods, free from harmful chemicals.

Through various initiatives Euro-toques tries to contribute to healthier eating habits and encourage consumption of good quality freshly cooked food:

  • Euro-toques School Food Workshops (see Education/Children)
  • Euro-toques/La Rousse Chef Development Programme (See Education/Chefs)
  • Support of the Irish Heart Foundation ‘Eat Out’ Campaign
  • Support of the FSAI Salt Reduction programme
  • Involvement in the GM-Free Ireland Network
