In 2007, long-time Associate Members La Rousse Foods became our partners in the La Rousse Foods/Euro-toques Chef Development Initiative, which aims to contribute to the on-going education of both student and industry chefs, particularly in the area of quality food sourcing. Concentrating on concepts such as taste and seasonality, the initiative aims on bringing the industry into the training colleges, both reminding student chefs of traditional skills and introducing them to cutting edge modern techniques.

EirGrid

As the operator of the national electricity transmission system, EirGrid engages with the farming community on a regular basis. Indeed, it could not carry out its function without the co-operation of the farming community across whose lands much of the electricity transmission system is located.

EirGrid continues to work closely with individual farmers and representative organisations and there are many projects that are proceeding very successfully in cooperation with farmers and other landowners.  There is an excellent symbiosis between the strategic objectives of EirGrid and the policies and objectives of Euro-toques, as well as with the Food Awards specifically.

 Both organisations share:

  • Brandings of quality and standards of excellence
  • Work in the area of education and industry development
  • Strong policies around environmental sustainability
  • Job creation and indigenous enterprise development goals
  • Rural and regional development aims

As such, EirGrid is pleased to be involved with The Euro-toques Food Awards. The awards recognise producers and products for

  • Outstanding taste & quality
  • Protecting traditional skills or production methods
  • Environmental sustainability and protection of biodiversity
  • Rural enterprise development and diversification/added-value in agriculture
  • Innovation in farming and artisan food production/meeting the demands of chefs & consumers
