Commissioner-General 2012 – 2015
Welcome to Euro-toques Ireland.
I am pleased and honoured to represent this group of outstanding chefs and cooks, as well as all the small and artisan food producers we source from and the associate members and suppliers who support us.
We continue to face rough times in Ireland, and these challenges certainly resonate throughout the restaurant and food industries. But by sourcing the highest quality ingredients and treating them with respect, we hope that Euro-toques members can continue to offer value for money at all levels. Ours is not an elitist organisation; our membership does include Michelin star and fine dining establishments, but also encompasses casual eateries, cafes and even a few pubs. Euro-toques chefs and cooks support small and artisan food producers and source as locally as possible. So when you dine in a Euro-toques restaurant you are not only supporting their business, but also local farmers and food producers and the local economy.
During my tenure as Commissioner-General of Euro-toques I would like to, of course, continue the great tradition of promoting and protecting small food producers. Additionally, I would like to work closely with my fellow Euro-toques chefs and small producers, developing strong relationships within the organisation as well as allowing these ‘food circles’ to become accessible to the public. Our work within Ireland will continue to guard the principles and values that allow chefs to source locally and seasonally, and small and artisan producers to maintain and develop their businesses. The work we do in national schools and third level colleges is also of utmost importance and as such I would like to make sure that our education initiatives continue to grow and pass on the Euro-toques ethos within the kitchen to Ireland’s future generation of chefs, producers and consumers.
Euro-toques is a Europe-wide network of chefs and as such Ireland will continue to have a strong presence at European level to encourage communication between chefs and to ensure that the needs and rights of Irish food producers and chefs are kept in mind in the European legislation process.
Use our website to see what we are up to, including our education programs, regional and national events, and other good work in which our members are engaged. I hope you enjoy browsing our list of carefully selected member chefs and cooks, and the food producers endorsed by them on this website. I am certain that looking through their menus, brochures and bios will assist you in choosing the best food that Ireland has to offer.
